A steadily growing club for the pet owners (and admirers) of Greyhounds & Whippets in the Norfolk & Suffolk regions.

Devoted to the betterment of the Whippet breed through education, information, and good fellowship since 1988, the GSDWA is an AKC sanctioned organization.

The objectives of the Club are to promote activities pertaining to the Whippet breed in the Pacific Northwest, ie. racing, showing, coursing, obedience, rescue, flyball, agility, heath education, and any other activity that may be undertaken with regard to Whippets.

We are a member club of American Sighthound Field Association and we have submitted our application to hold AKC Lure Coursing Trials. Our goal is to promote the enjoyment of Whippet ownership, to have fun things for pet owners as well as show people and to encourage ALL to get out and participate in the various venues.

Membership entitles you to reduced entry fees at our Open shows and we ensure you are sent schedules for our shows and details of the Fun Day.

The Lone Star Whippet Club is dedicated to breeding purebred Whippets and bringing their natural qualities to perfection; We seek to do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike conduct in each and every competitive venue.

An organized group of Whippet owners and enthusiasts seeking to protect and advance the interests of the breed and encourage sportsmanlike competition at formalized events involving Whippets.  We urge our members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Whippets shall be judged and we encourage interest in the humane welfare of all animals.

Our Association is a purebred dog club affiliated with Dogs Victoria and as such we are obligated to hold at least one Championship and Open Show a year and at least two Breed Competitions. We also hold an AGM and bi-monthly General Meetings.  We are also members of The National Whippet Breed Council of Australia so therefore from time to time we hold a National Show over two days and there are meetings involving this national council too.

The AWC puts on a National Specialty which is held in a different part of the country each year so that fanciers in all regions can have the opportunity to attend a National in their area. Our area of operation is Vancouver, British Columbia and the surrounding Fraser Valley. Our Club organizes and hosts several lure coursing trials throughout the year, a Whippet Specialty show and a Sighthound Field Trial Conformation Specialty.
