Although an important part of the club's effort goes into putting on matches and shows, they are by no means the clubs only incentives. We welcome anyone with a love of St. Bernards to join us at an upcoming meeting.

Most of our members are pet owners, although a few members do show and breed St. Bernard dogs. We meet about 8 times per year, in members homes, in public parks, and occasionally in restaurants. Our meeting locations are usually in the North or East Bay.

This Club was founded by resolution of a large number of fanciers at an Open Meeting held at the Ladies, Kennel Association Show on 3rd May, 1928, in view of the then prevailing dissatisfaction with the conduct of St. Bernard affairs, and to satisfy the demand for an efficient and helpful organisation worthy of the breed. Since its inception the Club has received very satisfactory support, and its increasing membership enables it to claim priority of representation in St. Bernard affairs.

The club's territory covers the Northern portion of New Jersey, basically from New Brunswick to the NY State line. (You will not be excluded if you live outside this area). Meetings are generally held on the second weekend of the month, and will be rotating around North Jersey. As members, our duty is to help prospective owners and owners of the Saint Bernard dog.  We hope that this web site and our members can provide sufficient knowledge to people curious about the Saint Bernard and the sport of pure-bred dogs.

As a club, we hold regular meetings and welcome new members as well as visitors. We participate in a variety of public events each year. We host two AKC recognized specialties in conjunction with AKC All Breed Dog Shows, participate in Meet the Breeds, mentor those new to our breed, provide breeder referrals, administer Canine Good Citizen tests to the public, provide Chip Identification clinics, and have liaisons to the Saint Bernard Club of America and the Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation.

The Sacramento-Sierra Saint Bernard Club was founded in 1963 to provide an environment in which we could all come together to share ideas, methods and a commitment to help the Saint Bernard Breed continue to improve.

The club was established in 1969 and has a solid thirty-nine year history of serving the Saint fanciers in the southeastern United States. The SBCGA offers an American Kennel Club licensed specialty show each April.

The English St. Bernard Club is the parent Club of the Breed Clubs today.

The Saint Bernard Club of America is one of the oldest breed clubs in the U.S., first organized in 1888 only four years after the formation of the American Kennel Club.
