In 1983 The Northern Ireland Rottweiler Club was founded to act as a point of reference for all Rottweiler owners and interested parties. The Club was granted Championship status by the Kennel Club in 1987, thus making it one of the youngest clubs to achieve this honour. The Club organises various events, along with two shows a year, the Championship Show in May & the Open Show in September.
