Description

German Shorthaired Pointer

A German Shorthair Pointer, whether puppy or adult, is a regal comic. It is a close working, multiple purpose hunting dogs with boundless energy, love of purpose and dedicated trainability. The shorthair is not only an upland hunter used for finding and pointing birds, but also for trailing furred game and retrieving out of water. From the origins in the nineteen century until today, the Shorthair has found many uses, from hunting birds, obedience and agility competition, bomb and drug detection to successful assistants to the hearing and sight impaired, and makes cheerful therapy dogs. Whatever the Shorthair trains to do, it does the job with enthusiasm, energy, devotion and definitely good humor.

The German Shorthair is a combination of several recognized breeds, but all of the exact breeds used remain unproven. Theories include the Spanish pointer, bloodhound and French pointers and setters.
