Bolognese

By the Renaissance, the Bolognese had become a favorite of the nobility. The Medici family in Italy gave these dogs as gifts to obtain favors and many European rulers fell under its charm. The Bolognese appears in many medieval paintings. Today it is less well-known, in fact, almost rare in its homeland. Nevertheless, dedicated breeders promote this ancient and admired dog, and there have been recent imports into the United States.
